GoBolt CEO Mark Ang Named Gold Stevie® Winner for Sustainability Hero of the Year

Toronto (August 24, 2023) – GoBolt Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Ang was named the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award for Sustainability Hero of the Year in The 20th Annual International Business Awards®.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as a Sustainability Hero in the United States and Canada,” said Ang. “Our approach to sustainability is driven by fleet electrification and we hope others in logistics look to us as a proof of concept and follow our lead. Sustainability is too important for anyone to gatekeep it as a competitive advantage – together we can prove sustainable logistics is good for both business and the environment.”

The International Business Awards are the world’s premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small – are eligible to submit nominations. The 2023 IBAs received entries from organizations in 61 nations and territories.

Ang stood out amongst other nominees for his leadership ushering in a more sustainable, tech-forward era of logistics. He co-founded GoBolt in 2017 as a consumer storage solution, Second Closet. With a rapidly growing business-to-business (B2B) division, Ang and his co-founder Heindrik Bernabe went all in on a new tech-infused business model. However, they knew continued expansion equated to more delivery trucks and a carbon-heavy footprint. Instead, they set out to chart a new, more sustainable course with GoBolt.

Today, Ang and the GoBolt team are building a vertically integrated and sustainable supply-chain network with the company’s tech-enabled fulfillment, last mile delivery, and reverse logistics services for global brands, like IKEA, Frank And Oak, and Rove Concepts. Environmental sustainability is at the root of Ang’s every decision. All of GoBolt’s growth, partnerships and achievements in the past few years were driven by one mission: to elevate the logistics experience while positively impacting the environment.

Ang and Bernabe’s planet-positive approach to fulfillment and last mile delivery has GoBolt on track to offer carbon-neutral first-party deliveries by 2024. Several ways the team is accomplishing this include:

  • Electrifying the Last Mile: GoBolt is working with several partners to continue to add new electric cargo vans and box trucks to its delivery fleet.
  • Optimizing Fleet of EVs: Ang has invested in the continued development of in-house tech ensuring GoBolt drivers take efficient delivery routes to optimize EV performance.
  • Sequestering Carbon Emissions: GoBolt also formed a new climate and sustainability partnership in 2023 to sequester emissions released during last mile deliveries where an EV cannot be utilized. GoBolt calculates the impact of its emissions and proportionally donates to verified nature-restoration projects.

Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 230 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process in June and July.

“Nominations to the IBAs get better every year, and this year’s class of Stevie winners is the most impressive yet,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Miller.  “The winners have demonstrated that their organizations have set and achieved lofty goals.  We congratulate them on their recognized achievements.”
